Door Stop Bird

knitted and crocheted in cotton

We needed a door stop, so I made this one. It is knit and crocheted in cotton yarn 8/4.
I started by crocheting a circular bottom with the diameter = 10 cm, And then I knitted 64 stitches up on 4 double pointed needles and knit  10 cm. Then I started to decrease the stitches. I started each needle with 1 k, knit 2 stitches together through the back loops and the last three stitches on the needle knit 2 stitches together and 1 k. Continue until only 5 stitches is left on each needle. Then you knit the rest together 2 and 2 and bind off.
For the eyes you crotchet two circles with a diameter = 4 cm  The beak is crocheted with 10 chain, and reducing the number by passing one stitch in start and end of every 4th row.
For the wings you cast on 9 stitches and on every 4th row you knit 2 together in the start and end of each row. When three stitches are left you slip a stitch, knit two together and pass the slipped stitch over.
Sew the eyes on the body with a button in the center. Then sew on the beak under the eyes and at last the wings. The wings you only sew in the upper edge of the wing . I put a 4 liter plastic bag in the bird and filled it with chickpeas  and made a knot. Then sew the filling hole on top of the bird together and a little tot of hair/feathers. I don't know if all the knitting and crocheting terms are right, but feel free to ask if something is hard to understand.
