Spring??

Image
Woke up to this beautiful view, but it is spring! The last days the snow had melted and winter aconite and snowdrops have lit up the garden. The daffodils and hyacinths are on their way too, but now everything is covered in snow. I don't think it will be possible to do gardening this Easter.

The Grave's a Fine and Private Place - Alan Bradley

The Grave's a Fine and Private Place by Alan Bradley

This  is the 9th book in the Flavia de Luce series. I have read them all with great pleasure, as it is very original crime novels. That is among other due to the detective  and knowledgeable chemist - when the series begin - 11 year old Flavia. She is interested in poison in all its varieties. She lives in the beginning with two older sisters (Feely and Daffy), the father and their "servants" Dogger (her father's best friend ) and Mrs. Mullet (housekeeper and cook, not particular capable of either). They all live in the run down estate, Buckshaw and they are always in need of money.

In the 9th volume the family is on a boat trip on the river. Flavia is sitting with a hand  in the water and grabs what she thinks is a fish, but shows to be a body. Flavia is now 12 years old(? I should think she is older, as she was 11 years old in the first novel) and the relationship with her sisters  develops for the better  Also …

Still me - Jojo Moyes

Image
Still me by Jojo Moyes.

Now I got hold of the  3rd volume in the series i about Lou. The two first books in the series are:

Me Before You  - 1
After You - 2

Louisa Clark has gone to New York to work as a personal assistant for the wife in the very wealthy Gopnik-family. The boyfriend, Sam, is still in England. We follow Louisa's struggle to make a a new living in a new country, and to make her long distance relationship with Sam work. The novel is a nice reunion, and I recommend reading the books in the right order. Me Before You is hard to surpass, but anyway it is  nice  again to be with Lou in her struggle to make out who she really is, and what she wants with her life.
