Figs
The first tender fig leaves and figs.
In November the tree had lots of unripe figs. They were removed and now there are lots of fine, little fresh figs. So we hope for a warm summer and a lot of the figs to ripe
We were lucky in 1986 to be able to see the 376 year old fig tree in a convent garden near Roscoff, Brittany. It was 8-10 meter high and the tree trunk had a circumference of 2,40 m. It was supported with pillars and covered an area of 600 square meters. The numerous figs were sold at nearby markets. At the time we were there it was only possible to watch the tree from outside, as it was rather fragile, and the year after it was unfortunately cut down.
